A high quality nurturing family atmosphere...

Policy Statements

Hipperholme and Lightcliffe Childcare Limited has a range of Policy Statements that ensure your child receives the highest standard of care. Below is a sample of those statements. These are available on request and will be discussed in detail at the time your childcare contract is signed.

ADMISSIONS STATEMENT

Being Ofsted registered we are restricted to the number and ages of children that we can care for at any one time. We are happy to care for any baby/child within our registered numbers and will not discriminate against children or their families for reasons such as race, religion, sex or ability. We are also  offering a drop off and pick up service for children attending Lightcliffe CofE (VA) Primary School.

We are very happy to care for children with special needs.

We will request a two-week settling in period on our contract, so if you or your child or we are not happy with the arrangement it can be terminated easily. When enrolling additional children we must take into consideration the children already in our care who are happy and settled.

EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES STATEMENT

We give all children in our care the opportunity to reach their full potential. This may mean adapting an activity to the child’s ability and stage of development, providing additional resources or giving one child more attention and support than others during a particular activity or routine. All children in our care are given the opportunity to play with all the resources available. We try to ensure resources reflect positive images of children and people from different cultures and with different abilities. No child in our care will be discriminated against in any way. We will challenge any remarks that we feel are inappropriate. We will encourage the children to find out about the culture and religions of other children. We will do this in a fun way through sharing books, toys, cooking and eating food from around the world and celebrating special festivals. We encourage the children to develop a healthy respect of each other’s differences and to value everyone as an individual.

WORKING IN PARTNERSHIP WITH PARENTS STATEMENT

It is very important for your child that we work in partnership. This will give your child continuity of care and (s)he will not become confused with different standards of behaviour and boundaries. We will endeavour to work closely with you in order to carry out your wishes for your child wherever we can. It is therefore important that we have an excellent communication system. We are always happy to discuss your child and their care with you at any time that is convenient to us both, whether in person or over the phone. We would request that you advise us if your child is not feeling well or any other piece of information that may help us to provide him/her with the best care we can. We can also work together and your wishes be incorporated into our care for your child at new stages eg.weaning, potty training, starting school etc. We would also appreciate it if you could inform us if there are any changes to contact numbers for yourselves, including work, mobile numbers and emergency contacts. If we have any concerns about your child’s behaviour, development, eating etc we will share them with you and if necessary work with you to resolve the matter.

SPECIAL NEEDS STATEMENT

A child's need for love, attention, security and equality of opportunity is paramount. With regard to additional/special needs a child may have, they will be offered the same opportunity for obtaining their goals. All children will have equal access to the activities and experiences provided with regard to their special need or disability. At present any initial concerns about a child will be referred from us, working in partnership with parents to Calderdale Early Years Team. At all times we will be working with parents/families of the child concerned to ensure that the appropriate support is given to all involved.
